#cookingwithCICI,

(Dough)in’ it From Scratch

Heya Guys!

A quick and easy one for today.

CICI and I made this yummy snack a couple weeks back when we were craving  deep-dish, meaty and saucy pizza! We were not intending to put the recipe up on the blog but a number of you asked for it, so here it is. On that account, forgive the lack of more detailed photography. 🙁

It is actually not that complicated to make your own pizza dough from scratch. The key thing is to have instant yeast (thank God for modern- day convenience!)

INGREDIENTS

Dough:

  • 1 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tsp of Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp of Salt
  • 2 Tsp of Instant Dry Yeast
  • 3/4 cups of warm water

Toppings:

These can be whatever you prefer.

  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Homemade Pizza sauce
  • Mozarella Cheese
  • Green pepper
  • Onions

METHOD

  1. Begin by mixing the warm water and olive oil then set it aside.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl. Make a well in the flour mixture and pour the water and oil mixture in. Mix until all the flour has been incorporated and the mixture turns into a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface with your hands until it is smooth and elastic. Shape the dough into a ball and coat with a little oil. Place in large bowl and cover tightly with a warm wet cloth until it doubles in size (this should be about 30 minutes to 1 hour).
  4. Punch the dough down to release the air. Roll the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and (attempt to) shape it into a circle. Ours wasn’t too bad, a sort of square-circle hybrid. Transfer onto a greased oven tray. Poke holes in the dough to prevent it from bubbling up!
  5. Place your favorite toppings! Bake according to your oven type. (We baked it for 25 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 1800c)
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Our square-circle hybrid…
