Hot Chocolate (N.) – a hug in a cup

Raise your hands if you are tired of this excruciatingly cold weather in Nairobi right now? Yeah, me too. Unfortunately, we have no say in the matters of nature, all we can do is thank the Almighty God that we’re still here on earth to enjoy it. So, with that in mind, the only thing we can actually do is make the most of the weather, and what better way to do that than by cooking up some yummy hot chocolate with a lil’ twist? (and of course cozying up on the couch with chunky oversize sweaters -but let’s save that for another post as this weather doesn’t look like it’s leaving us anytime soon.?) This salted caramel hot chocolate drinks are soooo tasty, they do the trick and warm you up almost instantly.

Yield: 2 large servings

Prep time: 8 minutes

Ingredients:

xxxx

2½ cups of milk

4 ounces of dark chocolate (8 tbsp)

2 ounces of caramel chocolate (we used Quality Street’s caramel cups)

2 pinches of sea salt

Marshmallows and chocolate syrup for decoration (optional)

Method:

1. In a saucepan, heat half of the milk and add in the dark chocolate and salt until melted.

2. Continue heating and whisk in the remaining milk and the caramel chocolate.

3. Continue whisking until the entire mixture is warmed through and smooth in texture.

4. Serve in cups drizzled with chocolate syrup then place small marshmallows at the top. (Try not to eat all the marshmallows before serving like CICI almost did, ha-ha!?)
